Counting Down the Days!
Mood:  surprised
It's official, less than 3 weeks to go! Bree has been on maternity leave for a week now, and taught her last Cycle class 3 weeks ago. We are in the middle of adding the finishing touches to the nursery (like putting the crib together) and packing our bags for the hospital.

Bree just started feeling her first contractions last night..the braxton-hicks type..and they've continued today. A sure sign that the end is near! (Or the beginning, however you look at it!) She had gained 25 lbs at the beginning of this month, and has dropped back to 24 (much to her pleasure), despite a hearty appetite. And both of us are experiencing the fun of nightly reflux.

The pictures you see are of Bree's 1st Baby Shower, put on by her friend Misty, with some help from her mom.

UPDATE FOR THE NEW YEAR
Mood:  cheeky
Happy new year to everyone! We hope that everyone had awesome holidays and a great new year. We got away for a little relaxation on a cruise to Jamaica, Aruba, Grand Cayman, and Curacao, and got back on December 24th. We were obviously limited in the activities we could do at each port. Bree spent some good time at the spa on the ship while Loren was able to do some diving in Grand Cayman. Here is a picture from one of the formal evenings on the ship.

Most importantly, we had our first 3D sonogram done on December 27, 2005 by Bree's stepmom, Susan. She did an awesome job and was very careful not to peek at the private parts (so she said!). So, in case you are wondering...we still don't know. Many people lately have said "boy", but we still aren't too sure. Here is the first pic of the little guy/girl...

Finally, here is an action shot. Happy new year and have an awesome 2006.

Mood:  happy
As you can see, the baby has been very active since our last posting!

We had our "big" OB appointment today with our Doc. We are just over half way there at 21.5 weeks. Bree is right on track with a weigh in right at 11 pounds since the start. Still, Loren has no freakin' excuse and that is why he chooses to hide behind Bree for now in the pics.

The baby's measurements put us at a due date of March 25, 2006. The baby (we don't know if it is a he or she) was very cooperative and photogenic for us. By the way, we choose NOT to know the gender of the baby, but we would love to hear your votes.

Finally, we wanted to share with you a quick video of us using our home doppler (Bree rented for a few months) to listen to the heartbeat. If you listen close you will hear it too! Just click on the camera.

Welcome to our Baby Blog!
Mood:  happy
Trimester One:

Loren and I found out that we were pregnant right after our trip to Vegas. I immediately began reading all sorts of books and magazines on having a baby in preparation for the big event.

Loren did a great job bearing with me through my extreme fatigue...he was nice and quiet during my daily naps (since he is always in Iowa), and never once pointed out how tired I looked, although I was quite aware!

Fortunately, I really didn't experience much nausea, and although I couldn't eat much in one sitting, Loren always helped me clean my plate.

I am now 14 weeks along and have gained 10 lbs (8 pounds went to Loren and 2lbs on me)...it sounds small, but it's definitely noticeable to anyone who is paying attention. I have yet to experience the 2nd trimester "energy surge", but am definitely more alert than I was a few weeks ago. Things are going very well, and we're looking forward to the changes that will come. Thanks for visiting and feel free to leave your comments!
